I love to read. Really love to read. It's my passion and a favorite way to end the day; ever since I've been able to sound out words, I've devoured as many books as I can in the time that I can spend reading. Books are my way to make sense of the world. This blog started partly as a reading journal, so I can keep track of the piles of books that I've read, but more importantly I think, to share my love of reading with others... If I can match one reader with a book they enjoy, I've done something useful with my enthusiasm for books!
Additionally, I would love for my two sons to grow up to be readers. What I've found in my time as a mom (nearly 13 years already!) is that sometimes it's better to model the behavior instead of pleading, nagging or whatever it takes to get them to sit down and open a book. I would love nothing more than for reading for pleasure to become a natural habit for my boys. Instead of asking, telling, etc... now I just sit down, open a book and let them 'catch' me reading. It worked for my older son, jury is still out on my younger son. Cross your fingers for us!
